There will be tea/coffee after the morning service. All welcome.
There will be a time of prayer at 5.20pm. All welcome.
As our students are entering the very busy and stressful exam season, we thought it would be nice, as a church body, to send them some encouragement. Would you be willing to write a note of encouragement for one of our students? This could be prayer, scripture or just a few words to let them know they are remembered and prayed for during their exams. If so, please reach out to Ashlie Hershberger via email or text and she will assign you a student and collect the notes to put into a care package for each student. Thanks!
Christianity Explored – We plan to run a course about Christianity from the 24th of April. If you are a Christian and want to deepen your understanding of the gospel then this is for you. Equally so, if you are interested in what it means to be a Christian then this is also for you.
Cultural evening Sat 24th May – We plan to have an evening of food and fellowship on Saturday 24th May.
Communion services 26-27th April – Rev Andy Pearson from Dundee Free Church will be taking services next weekend. He will be coming with his wife and three children. There will be a service on Saturday night at 7.30 pm and the communion service will be on Sunday morning at the usual time. The Lord’s supper is for all believers whatever their background. If you don’t normally attend the communion services, please consider coming along as your attendance will be a source of great encouragement to others and you will personally benefit from being there. There will be a time of fellowship after the evening service.
Baptism 4th May – Kate and Lucy Knight will be baptised during the morning church service on the 4th of May. This is a great encouragement to them, to their family and to the congregation. Remember Kate and Lucy in prayer as they take this important step in their lives.
Upcoming preachers:
Rev Andy Pearson, April 26th-27th – Communion weekend; Mr. Keith Nicholson, June 8th – Morning
The final instalment of the loan from the Free Church of Scotland was paid on Wednesday, so the new church has been fully paid for, the loan being repaid 14 years ahead of the date originally planned. The Deacons Count is extremely grateful to all those who have contributed so generously over many years, both to building the initial fund when the new church was just a prayer for the future, and to the repayments of the loans from the Free Church and Methodist Chapel Aid which were essential at the time when the building work was started. Thank you to all the contributors from the congregation and others out with the congregation, and of course to the Lord himself. Jehovah Jireh indeed! The building fund is accordingly now closed. There is a continuing need for work to be done not only on certain aspects of the new church, but also on the manse. Accordingly the Deacons’ Court has decided that a Fabric Fund will be started to be used for these purposes. All who are at present contributing to the
Building Fund should consider the future destination of funds which they have so generously contributed to the repayments of the loans. Any funds now received into the Fabric Fund under instructions from the donor that they are for the Fabric Fund will be to a ‘restricted fund’ which means that they are not treated as part of the congregation’s income when the amounts due to Central Funds are calculated.
Any who have any questions on this, or who wish to discuss the matter further are invited to discuss this, in confidence, with the treasurer.
